EPA is developing a series of technical guidance manuals for developing bioassessment methods and biocriteria. These manuals provide states and tribes with scientific information and procedures used to conduct bioassessments and develop biocriteria. These methods are then applied regionally by states and tribes as they develop the biocriteria.
EPA has published guidance manuals for the following waterbody types:
- Streams and Small Rivers (1996)
- Lakes and reservoirs (1998)
