Water Quality Standards Academy Basic Workshop for Tribes

Course Description: The Tribal Water Quality Standards Academy training is designed for representatives of tribal water quality programs who are developing or will soon be developing Clean Water Act water quality standards for reservation lands. This special training will focus on important components of the water quality standards program, including designated uses, water quality criteria, the antidegradation policy and implementation methods, water quality certifications, water quality monitoring and assessments, and other components of the program. 
A variety of techniques will be used to teach the course content, including lecture, discussion and hands-on interactive activities in group settings and panel discussions. These interactive sessions will be co-led by Tribal water quality experts. Attendees will also participate in a simulation of certain aspects of the water quality standards development process.  This will enable the participants to develop an understanding of the interpretation and application of the water quality standards regulations, policies and program guidance.
