Course Description: This webcast will provide an introduction to key sections of the Clean Water Act (CWA) and focus on how Tribes can use those programs to protect human health and water resources on Reservation lands. Information presented in the webcast will help Tribes build an effective tribal water quality program. An overview of the following CWA programs will be featured:

  • Water Quality Standards
  • Monitoring
  • Report on Condition of Nation's Waters
  • Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs)
  • National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Program
  • Program for Nonpoint Sources
  • Water Quality Certification
  • Water Pollution Control Grant Program
  • Indian Tribes/Treatment in a Manner Similar to a State (TAS)
