Program Development for Water Quality Restoration in Indian Country

Purpose
The main purpose of this workshop was to train tribal participants in nonpoint source program development with emphasis on identification of projects, work plan preparation, and progress reporting, with the ultimate goal of enhancing water quality restoration efforts in Indian country.
The workshop included:
- Review of water quality concepts and nonpoint source (NPS) pollution management
- Base grants and competitive grants process
- Developing competitive grant work plans
- Examples of NPS control best management practices through field trips and site visits
- Face-to-face networking time with tribal, federal, and state agency partners
- Development of Tribal NPS Assessment Reports and Management Plans
- Meeting eligibility requirements to apply for CWA Section 319 funding
- Project management and progress reporting
