Bayou aux Carpes

On May 27, 2009, EPA modified its 1985 Final Determination regarding the Bayou aux Carpes site in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. This modification was made in response to a November 4, 2008, request from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to modify the site’s 404(c) designation to accommodate discharges to Bayou aux Carpes’ wetlands associated with a proposed enhanced flood protection system in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. EPA’s modification to the site’s 1985 Final Determination includes a set of specific conditions which include allowing no greater than 9.6 acres of impacts on the Bayou aux Carpes 404(c) site associated with the proposed flood protection project.
