Broadcast Meteorology and Environmental Education Grant Solicitation: Basic Information

We solicited applications from States, Indian tribes, U.S. Territories, interstate agencies and other public or non-profit organizations that have experience in the field of broadcast meteorology and environmental education. Through this competitive solicitation, EPA sought to improve the delivery of environmental information to the American public by utilizing broadcast meteorologists and on-air news casters as messengers and transmitter of information.

Public information, education and involvement has and continues to be a hallmark of our mission. Many approaches and strategies are used by EPA to increase environmental literacy, to educate and inform the public about environmental and health issues and to engage the public in environmental protection and stewardship in their local communities.
